Yay for the weekend!

I'm so excited that Matt gets a three-day weekend. Boy does he need it. The poor fella has been working, working, working! This week he's been getting home around 8:00 and just sooooo tired. Our niece "Nettie" is going to be here from NM this weekend too. That can only mean a very yummy BBQ at Mark and Cathy's house. I might even get to go to the movies with JUST us girls. I'm even going to try to squeeze in some scrappin' time. We'll have to see how the days go. So, I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing weekend.
God Bless!

Is this a sign of things to come?

We had adjoining rooms at the hotel in Durango so the kids got to spend a lot of time together. This photo was taken while the guys were fishing on the Dolores River for the day and the rest of us were hangin' out in town. Bree and "E" are certainly two peas in a pod.

A visit to Walgreens yesterday

It is August right? I didn't slip into a black hole somewhere and get stuck in August, 2008 did I? Why am I already seeing things of this horrible holiday called Halloween that generally glorifies the dark things of this world, rather than the light of Jesus Christ, The Truth? Have you noticed how Halloween costumes and masks are getting generally bloodier, gorier, and more depraved each year? Well my two-year-olds certainly have when we were at Walgreen’s yesterday. All I wanted to do was drop off some film and buy some hair detangler for Abby. The poor girls were very frightened of all the “monsters” hanging from the ceiling and propped up on displays. Both girls kept saying “monsters coming…mamma go home” which we did rather quickly. I knew there was a teachable moment in this but I honestly wasn’t prepared to teach my two-year-olds the principalities of good and evil in Walgreen’s of all places! I was in a state of shock myself!

Now, I know that I can’t just lock ourselves up for the next two and a half dadgum months and I also know that I must teach the girls that the fight isn't against occultists, non-Christians, Christians who feel differently than we about Halloween, or institutions that promote Halloween, but "against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12 NKJV).

If you are a Christian parent, God has given you a precious responsibility in your children. Remember, their ability to resist spiritual wickedness is much less than yours. Don’t allow them to play on "the devil’s turf," Satan will definitely press his home court advantage. It is hard enough to raise children these days in a Godly way without exposing them to Satan's realm. We are placed in this world to be a light in a world of darkness.

Our little country girl

This photo was taken back in July when Sky was visiting. Abby is definitely our country girl, messy hair and all!

And another

Papa Bruce

I can't tell you how much I love to see our kids delight in their grandparents. Papa Bruce stops by every once in awhile and the girls just go crazy! I especially savor the moments when Bruce doesn't have to rush out the door. It makes my heart glad to see them connect.
All right, all right, go hug a loved one. I'll wait right here...

Just for fun

I've been trying out some more digital techniques this evening. One of the many great things about having twins is that I get twice the practice in scrapbooking! Here are a few pictures I took while we were on the road to Durango last Saturday. The girls are such great travelers!
Happy Friday!

My Beautiful Girls

Here are two more layouts I did last night while procrastinating on cleaning up the kitchen. The digital kit was a free download from Creating Keepsakes around National Scrapbook Day in May. I can't believe all this digital goodness was hiding in my computer waiting to be used. Hi my name is Jenn, I'm a scrapbook collector, I hoard scrapbook supplies...

Happy Friday!

I can can!

Canning wasn’t that bad with a little hand-holding from my mom last Thursday. Here are a few pictures of the process. (I forgot to take a picture of us actually filling the jars with fruit but it was a little crazy in the kitchen at that point.)

First we gave these beauties a rinse. *They had no idea what they were in for.

Ok ladies time for a dip in the hot tub for 4 or 5 minutes.

Everybody out of the hot tub and into the ice bath. Wowza what a shock that must be!

Then we'll peel your skins right off!

Here they are in their birthday suit.

All sliced and ready to go.

Some got mooshed up and put back in a pot to become jam.

Back in the hot tub.

Oh so pretty!

And a pretty little helper!

The mess was not pretty but totally worth it!

For this!

And that my friends is how this chinobilly made peach jam and peach slices.

My Babies are 2!

2nd Birthday_JPEG

Part of me rejoices for their achievements over the past two years and part of me wants science to come up with a way to keep my sweet girls babies forever.
We didn't have a big shindig for them. *gasp* We just cherished the moments and enjoyed a bit of company with family and friends.
Enjoy the album!

Krista

Hey everyone! Great news! I received this birth announcement in the mail today from the girls birthmom, Krista. She just had a baby boy on July 24th. We haven't heard from Krista in almost a month but we knew little Ryan would be coming soon. I remember when Aubrey used to hold her little arms stiff like that. Babies are such a wonderful thing!

Happy Friday!
